aright sounds good but i have a couple disagreements...the HD will most likely be seagate's 500gb 7200rpm cause its less money and i hear WD's breaks quite often...also i need 2 HDs(1 for backup and it can be small)... and the wireless card...i need a very good wireless card..and also are there any DVD drives that play DVD and blu-ray?...and i need a good case...im thinkin of this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146029

any other input from other people is great

Well feel free to add any HDDs or take away from the list  just as long as they are SATA, I'm not too keen on network cards, I chose one that had decent reviews. And I'm sure there are Blu-ray players but last time I read they were in the thousands.... so.... yeah.

Case is up to you really, I'm usually good with any cheap case that has a decent airflow, just remember to buy a GOOD PSU and not use one that comes bundled with the case.

now's your turn though... Find him a good wireless network adapter. I wouldn't much about those since my network is all wired

Mine's wired too LOL.

Although I did help a buddy with a good Linksys wireless. Nothing hardcore, just to run 2 setups at home.
