Please help!
Recently, when I press the power button, the bios greeting screen comes up a few seconds later then gets stuck there for 10 minutes before I can see the windows screen. After that everything seems fine.
Is there any cure for that nail-biting problem?
Thank for any help.

You should check in your BIOS that any self checks are disabled, and disable any loading screens so you can see what's going on, maybe you can see why it's hanging up.

Is it looking for IDE devices?

Also, look in BIOS for something like "quick boot" to make it bypass unnecessary stuff. And disable the self-diagnostic junk too. See if those help.

All very good suggestions. Also check the jumpers on your optical drives. That can mess up a lot.

If nothing else works, reset the CMOS

LOL I forgot to say those. Good catch Bill!

Yes, the jumpers on the opticals can completely fubar your loadup times if they're wrong. Truly.

And yes, if all else fails, either reset the CMOS, or just remove the battery for 1 minute and then pop it back in.

The device that gave me trouble is a cheap USB Lexmark color injet printer (X3470 I think) I installed a few months ago. Replaced it with my old HP color inkjet and everything is fine.

Don't know why it worked then failed!!!
