Yeah so i was going to buy the x1950 pro
http://www.canadacomputers.com/ind [...] 99.243.272

What i don't understand is, what this pixel shader processors are (36) is this just to make the card look good? Because it only has 12 pixel shader processors. So my question is what are shader processors, do they really matter, do they affect performance? Wasn't the 1950 PRO suppose to be high-end/ medium-high, why does it only have 12 pixel pipelines, i mean the 7950 GT isnt THAT far off and it has double the pixel pipelines. Yesterday i was informed that the formula for power, or the rough formula was coreclock x pixel pipelines.575 core clock x 12 = power correct me if im wrong. So, i want to understand how the 1950 PRO performs good in benchmarks with only 12 pixel pipelines, or is this theory just an urban myth? HELP MY DILEMNAA!!!

The X1950 PRO does not have 12 pipelines:
It has 36 pixel shaders and 12 Texture Management Units.

The 7950 GT has 24 Pixel Shaders and 24 Texture Management Units.
Because it has a 1:1 ratio of pixel shaders and TMUs it is considered a 24 pipeline card.

The 7950 GT is slightly better in most titles. It has a strong texturing advantage.

But the X1950 PRO performs pretty closely because of it's pixel shader advantage, and in some pixel-shading apps it eve3n does a bit better.

So if you can get it alot cheaper the 7950 GT isn't usually worth it.

but this is what it states on the site
"PixelPipelines 12(36 Pixel shader processor )"
so unless they're lying...it has 12 pixel pipelines

All I can say is, they're wrong.
Online stores make mistakes like this all the time.

your best bet is to look at reviews done by sites like this rather than places that sell them.

cleeve is right by the way.

Saying Cleeve is right is like saying the sky is blue and the grass is green.
