Major help needed with OS installtion.

First off hello every one I'm new here. Ok here's my problem when I start up for the very first time my computer brings up a message
"Reboot and select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

I have gone into my bios and changed my primary boot divice to my dvd drive but what is boot media?

system specs
amd 64 X2 4800+ 939
A8N32-SLI Deleuxe mobo gaming
250gb WD 7200rpm hard drive
2gb corsair XMS RAM
Sony DVD drvie
Samsung DVD/CD burner drive(in my bios screen this drive is not shown as being deteced)
evga 7600gt CO vid card
sony 3.5" floppy drive

If your DVD burner is not showing up in the BIOS, then you need to find out why. It's likely a master/slave issue with the drives. Are you designating master and slave with jumpers, or using cable select? Try reversing and make the current master the slave, and vice-versa. Then see if both drives show up in the BIOS. In won't do you any good having a drive that is not being detected by the BIOS as the boot drive. Boot media is your install disk.
