Help! Hibernation mode in windows XP

Hey, my laptop just went into hibernation mode and I can't seem to get out of it. I've tried pressing the power button like the manual tells me to but it doesn't work. Any help please?

Hold power button down until it shuts off. (Could take 5 - 10 seconds)

Alternatively, you can unplug the power and remove the battery and then power up again.

nope i've tried all that. I've held the power button for a minute, pressed it repeatedly and still nothing. I took out the battery and AC adapter and still nothing. and everytime I press the power button the power indicator blinks 3 times but nothing happens. this is annoying me as I just got this laptop a couple of days ago and now its not working at all.

See if you can find another AC adaptor with the same specs... I'm leaning towards a dead adaptor or perhaps voltage regulators within the laptop.
