I have in my possesion an AGP ATI video card with a coffee stain (I think it's a coffee stain...) on the board and I think it got under some of the chips. It works pretty good most of the time, but occasionally will bugger up the the display. Sometimes Windows crashes and comes back with "Windows has recovered from a serious failure." How would one clean a card like this? Kindly refrain from asking how coffee got on the card, because I really don't know myself since it's been enclosed in the system chassis it's entire life
Your coffee is most likely a leaked capacitor. Best thing you can do is clean it with the purest isopropyl alcohol you can find and let it dry for 8-12 hours in front of a light fan or vent of some sort.
Having said that you never took the card out of your case, I'm pretty certain the electrolytes have leaked from a cap. Which card is it? If it's old it is probably time to replace but if it's new it may be under warranty or knowledgeable person may be able to solder on a new cap and clean up the mess for you.
Leaky capacitor, eh? It's an ATI AGP video card. I'd have to plug it back in to see what the exact model number is, but I tossed it to my nephew to see if he can clean it. It's really no loss as I already have an ATI X1300 Pro, BFG GeForce 7950 GT, and a BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC. In fact, I traded the the dirty video card, an old MOBO, and some slow RAM for 2 Seagate 15k 36GB Cheetahs

when's someone going to ban this retard spammer????
If it's on the back of the card, then it is most likely a liquid stain.
I had that happen once, where I accidentally dripped a few drops of something off the side of my desk, which got into the top vent of my comp and landed on the GFX card.
Since all the cards are facing down when in an upright tower, that would mean that it landed on the *back* of the card, which is why I asked. A leaked capacitor would leak on the front.
Nephew reports he wasn't able to clean it 100%, but it works. Thanks, Phrozt

That's just uncalled for, a capicitor leaks on his agp card and creates a brownish stain on his card, so he comes he to be educated and you call him a retard spammer? I think you are the one to be banned with that attitude of yours
