Which graphic cards are in the the xbox 360 and the PS3? which system has a better set-up for graphic performance? Any other thoughts would be nice to.
Short answer: The 360 uses a modified x1800 core, while the PS3 uses a modified 7800/7900. The RSX actually is more unknown as Sony has released little data on it, while the Xenos (360 GPU) has been talked nearly to death.
so would a geforce 8800 GTS 320mb or X1950pro top these graphics cards by a large margin?
Easily. I've done quite a bit of research on it myself, and both GPUs, when taking into account their coupled memory pools, would roughly fall into the range of the following graphics cards:
ATi Radeon X1650XT
nVidia GeForce 7600GT
nVidia GeForce 7800GSWhat you'll get in the game will vary, of course, as some developers did different quality levels with their jobs in porting the game.
For instance, always expect a game made for the console first, then ported to the PC, to run exceptionally poorly for what kind of graphics it gets. This was demonstrated, for instance, with Tom Clancey's Rainbow Six: Vegas. It, like other current TC's games, really looks no better than Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on max settings, (minus the EXCESSIVE bloom) yet runs incredibly poorly on the PC.

Why does it run so bad? Doesnt PC have the more superior hardware than a Game Console?

Not a fair question. These cards use a different API then the consoles. Its like checking the performance of the same car, but in two completely different ways. One way might allow for better performance then the other. The API matters, think of how far MS got with the GF 3 found in the Xbox(1).
Its sounds like your getting into a pissing contest with a friend. I'm going to say your both right. The 8800GTS is more advanced then either console GPU, but the console GPU would still be able to render current and advanced games with (reletive) ease.
