cracked software on vista

i heard from a friend that all cracked software wont work on vista. im not saying i will use cracked software. im just curious.

is this true?

I wouldn't know... I haven't tried. Everything I've used on Vista has been a free download thus far. I'm waiting until RC 1 to do a reinstall.

I don't see how Vista will know that software is cracked.

AFAIK, most cracks work by changing the executable so that it doesn't check for the CD. Windows isn't going to know which software is supposed to need a CD (e.g. a game) and which ones don't.

Sounds like another dodgy Vista rumour.
