Hi, I am looking to replace my now laughable Vanilla Geforce 6600 with a good mid-range card. At first my shining hope seemed to be an 8600 gts since i cant fit an 8800GTs in my Gateway Case. But recent benchmarks seem to put 8600 gts behind 7950 GT and x1950 PRO http://www.hardwarezone.com/articl [...] =3&id=2231

So the question is, should i buy a 7950 GT or x1950 over the gts? Will DX9 actually be supported for another 2 years? Also, how will they perform in Crysis and Halo 2 Vista? Should i wait for RV630/610 Any ideas would be great.

well dx10 games arent out yet, and wont be till towards the end of this year.

Dx9 games will definitely be supported for another few years (some games still support going into dx7 and dx8 like call of duty 2 and FEAR) unless the companies making them want to suffer huge losses as not everyone is going to jump onto the dx10 wagon any time soon.

and you could wait for the ati cards, as we neither have benchmarks, nor prices for them, so you never know what they are cooking.

Now.....you could have got all these answers just by reading some of the many posts around here, but yeah....hope you got your answer.
