So I'm heading off to university in the fall and the program I'm entering reccomends having a laptop computer capable of running the application SolidWorks which is widely used there.
Now, SolidWorks only reccomends and certifies workstation class graphics cards, however they seem to be few and far between in notebooks, and I also do a fair amount of gaming (I hear workstation cards can be pretty crappy for games.)
At the moment, the best laptop I can configure that still fits my budget runs a 512MB 7900GO. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who has used SolidWorks on such a card, and were there any major problems?
I can't speak for laptops, but at my job we use desktops with BFG 256mb 7600 GT OC's in them and it runs solidworks solidedge fine, no complaints at all. I'd have to guess that the 7900 should be fine but i can't say for certain. Hope this helps.
I can't imagine it would be much different on a laptop considering laptop and desktop parts are practically the same these days, and if it runs fine on a 256MB 7600 it must run fine on a 512MB 7900 yeah?
Thanks for the info. If anyone else has experience specifically with notebooks or this card i'd still love to know!
