I have an extra Window XP Professional OS on my computer which doesn't work. When I reboot my computer, I have to choose between the two operating system and one is inoperable. Therefore, my question is, how do I remove this bad Window XP Professional OS? When I click on the inoperable one, it gives me an error message and I have to reboot my system and sign on with the other operating system.

Register or log in to remove.

You'll have to edit your boot.ini file.

Should look something like:

Quote :

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition" /fastdetect

You may have 2 versions listed under [operating systems]. Delete the bad one.
