I would get a GA-965P-DS3 for like $123 just incase you want to OC in the future and for the CPU I would totally get the E4300 for its great overclocking ability.

For monitor I would get the SAMSUNG 225BW Black 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor for the extra $90 but it could be alittle too much for him.

Change that PSU to FSP Group good on a budget power supply.

Most overpriced ram of the century award goes to *drum rolls*

You'd have to put a bullet in my head to make me hit buy button. For 4 gigs, 280 bucks is right. I think newegg intentionally jacks up random popular items prices to make a killing. i.e. Freezer 7 Pro.

I'd get this in a heart beat:

o/c crazy. google reviews & forums.

Yeah, the TT psu is crap. Fortron/Hiper would be minimal.

Hey, as a college student I would suggest this.

1) Have two harddrive. One for the OS and another for media and stuff like that. There is nothing worse than having he OS crash on you and you lose your papers, I know you should back up on dvd but sometimes you forget. Another thing is that you tend to build up quiet a collection of movies and music. (DC++ is usually set up at schools even for "freeware" sharing)

2)Drop to an e4300. Prob wont notice a difference and you can run slower ram and save some money there. OR get DDR2-800 ram and really OC that e4300 and run the CPU:RAM 1:1

3) Wait till april 22 for the CPU or better yet wait till the summer like early AUG to built it new parts will be out and those will be cheaper.

4) other than that looks good. maybe a better PSU. The GPU is a great bang for the buck and he/she can hook it up to their tv.
