Hey
I have a MIVX PVR media streamer that can access my shared folder under Vista as long as I enable file sharing and access to the folders with GUEST account.

Under Windows 7 7057 I cannot gain access to shared folders using the GUEST account. I just get an access denied error.

Under earlier Windows 7 builds i had no issues accessing my shared folders from my PVR as long as GUEST account was given access to each shared folder.

Anyone have any ideas why I no longer can access shared folders using GUEST account under Windows 7?

Hi there,

I have installed Windows 7 RC and am having the exact same problem with a media streaming unit. I have upgraded from Win XP and had no problems with shared folders, but now with Windows 7 I can only see my computer name but no shared folders.

I've given all users full read/write permission and added the Guest account with the read/write permissions, still no go.

I have another computer on the network still running Win XP and it has no problems seeing my shared folders.

Did anyone ever come up with a solution for this?

Thanks.

Yeah. Put simply, these boxes have a hard time discovering a Windows Vista or 7 network... I'm not sure why.

If you have an XP box on the network, turn it on and your Mediabox will discover your Vista/7 PC much easier (though I also have a Mvix PVR and find I have to reboot it sometimes to get this trick to work)... it seems to "stick" for a day or so and I don't need my XP Notebook everytime, just 4-5 times a week... lol.

There is quite a few threads regarding this over at the official Mvix US Site...
