Wireless situation
I have a pc and a labtop. The pc is at the 1st floor not directly under it but close while the labtop is position on the 2nd floor. I am planning on getting dlink wireless 624,or 614, with a dlink 650wireless card unless you ppl would recommend something cheaper and better. I picked these equipments mainly on reviews of cnet. From the pc the ceiling is plano and the floor of the 2nd floor is wood i am wondering if wireless would work. I plan on sharing a verizon dsl connection ( d/l speed is around 150 kb/s ). The dsl modem is on the 1st floor with the pc. I am wondering if the range is strong enough or is this just not possible.

Ok, im not a wireless master of any kind, but i do know and many have said in here that DLINK is horrible... i from personal experience recommend Linksys. Also cheaper is not always the solution, i always say you pay for what you get.... with wireless routers i wouldn't try to get the cheapest stuff.... but that distance isn't a problem i know a few people who have large distance spans. the thing is your gonna want something to get through the walls with no problem, i would say something like the G because from what i hear it will be upgradeable to the Better SUPER G that will be out. This setup will be no problem with the right products
Linksys Wireless Router, G... and the 2 wirelss cards and your set... distance would not be a problem you will be able to get your laptop and walk all over the place.... :)

DLink is not worse than any other SOHO wireless Vendor. At the price point you can expect to pay the difference in performance is minimal. I believe DLink just started using 5 dBi omnis, so for range that would be a big plus. As far as your coverage goes, nobody can tell you that positively. One persons experience has very little to do with how your house will allow the radiation pattern to propogate. Sounds like you'll be ok but you won't know for sure until you try it.
