I purchased some thumbscrews that work great for my new case but they are too large (wide) to fit the optical drives and expansion slots. any recommendations as to where i can find some? Ive searched but most dont say their application is for anything other than cases, so i am worried that if i buy them they will again be too wide to fit.

They don't make thumb screws for drives. Drives take a slightly smaller diamiter of screw with a finer threading. You will have to stick with the standard fine treaded screws for your drives.

I regularly buy thumbscrews for drives and mounts. large thumbscrews
Then there are "small" ones for floppies and DVDroms Small thumbscrews
(The above is my local parts supplier)
