I have installed Slackware 8.0 (new linux user). Install was fine, I choose KDE as my default desktop, but I only boot to text ?? Is this because my Gforce2 MX is not supported ? It worked with Mandrake 8.0 but I couldn't get my network going or share my internet connection. Maybe I just don'i know WTF I'm doing !!!

Can anyone help me ?

Thanks,

This is really out of my league, but...

Are you sure SlackWare installed XFree (or whatever)? As far as I know, XF is needed to use the newer graphic cards... If the installer didn't install it, try if you somehow can install it manually.

Hold on while I clean the egg from my face. I did need to start it with startx.

I have moved back to Mandrake as I was having too much trouble getting the network to run.

Not used to having basic troubles after years of WinXX use. Oh well, sure and steady wins the race. Thanks for your help, I will be posting NIC questions under Mandrake 8.0
