I have just enterred the wonderful world of HD service via comcast.
Yeah, I
know satellite may be better but they made me an offer I couldnt
refuse ;-) I am facing a little problem now. My 57in toshiba HDTV only
has 2 component hookups,
no DVI inputs ;-(. The problem is that I need 3 components for: DVD,
cable, and PS2. Is there a splitter or switch I can buy to use for one
of the component hookups on my TV? I went to radio shack and its not
offered. I bought a switch for the optical audio cables, now I need it
for component video. TIA

videophile 4 systems on the web for $200+
pelican 8 system available from gamestop for $80 (i have this and it
works just fine)
jvc 4 system available online for $70 or so
upgrade your av receiver to one that handles component switching

Do you have a receiver that offers component cable input switching? Some of
the lower cost units have them, but the bandwidth is not high enough, though
you could use 1 on your TV for the HD, and PS/DVD through a low bandwidth
receiver to the other.

I had the same problem. Fixed for $35. A manual switch.
I got a Velleman AVW089 3-channel audio-video switcher,
also known as a Game Selector B/S-001.
I got this in an electronics store.
It has three (3) 3-RCA plug inputs and one (1) 3-RCA plug output,
(and a 3 position switch to select the input source) so it's only
good for the video signal. Since you've already got the audio
taken care of, this switch should work for you.

Cool, I'll get that if my receiver does not have component jacks. I
went to Circuit City and another Radio Shack last nite, neither store
sold a component splitter.

Check out the ebay store for "optical cable guy." I just got some cables from
him- unbelievable service (full story in a later post after I recieve shipment)
and I saw a switcher in his store: switches 3 component video inputs, each
with optical digital audio input, with remore control- only $45!!!
Great prices on everything- I got 3 6" component cables and 3 6' optical cables
for $38 delivered (though I later added $12 for overnight).

I went to gamestop last nite and the clueless employees didn't know
what component video was. They claimed that the best they had was
s-video. I'll have to go to a larger gstop store. BTW, I checked
my receiver, it does not support component video.
