This is going to be the first computer I'm putting together from scratch. I want to make sure I haven't overlooked anything or missed some compatibility issue in all this research. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions anyone may have. Its going to be a dual boot XP Pro/2k3 Server system. I may be doing some light video editing, but no graphics intensive gaming.

Here's what I've put together:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W Power Supply
GPU: MSI RX1550-TD256E Radeon X1550
Case: APEVIA X-Pider ATXA2XPW-AL/500 Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower
HDD 1&2: Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
HDD 3: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
Optical: LITE-ON Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model LH-16D1P-187
FDD: SAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive

The case comes with a 500w PSU, but I'm considering picking up the Corsair just in case.

Looks good to me. Only a couple of small suggestions. 1)Keep your eye open for 400GB drives, they go on sale for $100 sometimes. 2) Upgrade to a better cpu cooler (zalman would be fine for decent overclocking results). 3)like you said, definitely upgrade that power supply. If anything, I'd do a search for a case without a powersupply, save you a few bucks, or just get a slightly better case. Im not a big fan of the apevia cases myself either. My buddy bought one, and Ive seen them before, and some things like the leds aren't attached very well. I would go for a coolermaster or something. You can get a cgood, P/Sless coolermaster for $50 thats completely toolless. Why not get a DVD burner, theya re only $35? See no point in saving a few bucks for a straight dvdrom.

You also have the option of going with the e4300 to save a few bucks, plus it should overclock a little better and a little easier. But overall you have a really good build.

agree with most of your choices, not sure about the video card. Never heard of that model, might fit your needs but the other parts seem to say you want more speed and such, the GPU says cheapo.

GPU: MSI RX1550-TD256E Radeon X1550

Not really sure what that is? X1550? If you want something cheap get like a eVGA 7600 GT until most of the DX10 comes out. That 7600 GT will play most games in pretty decent frame rates.

Also that PSU make sure it has enough Amps just incase you decide on upgrading to DX10 card.
