Alright, this is going to be a tought one, I suppose. I have no idea how it started, but here is my problem (as of today):
Whenever I open up an application that connects to the internet (e.g. FireFox, Internet Explorer, Steam, iTunes Store, etc.), it loads for a few seconds (Internet shows homepage, iTunes shows entrance screen...) and then proceeds to crash. Every application experiences the same crash and I have no idea why. When I disable the internet connection, all the programs run fine (minus the fact that they're not connected to the internet).
I tried running in safe mode, debugging mode, resorting to a "normal" system startup sequence. Nothing seems to be working. I don't happen to have any anti-virus software at the moment, but I don't think that's a problem--this is a fresh install on my hard drive, just a month or two ago.
If anyone can provide any insight, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Where did you get the idea that it takes months and months to get a virus or spyware? That is where I would start. Since you're only a couple of months from a fresh install, I might be tempted to back up all your files and start over with another fresh install. And this time, install virus and spyware protection.
There are some things you can try short of that. Run a virus and spyware scan.
Have you installed any software lately -- just before this started happening? You might try to go back to a previous restore point.
mmmm... I think you might have spyware or something. an awesome program that always works great is adaware! 1.) its free, 2.)it has never failed me and many people will agree.
