does anyone know which software is best for making a bootable recovery CD for the whole system? I know drive image 5 will work BUT with the new type of SATA drive, will drive image still work? how about the SATA driver? as far as I know you have to press F6 key (when install fresh copy of windows xp) to install sata driver first for the XP to recongize the SATA drive. So, how does the drive image work? If doesn't, which software can handle these?

You can use the most recent version of Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image to create an image of your partitions. With these you can create a bootable CD which will boot and allow you to restore the hard disk in case of emergency (without having to do F6) to the way it way when you backed it up. You can use a USB external hard drive, a DVD-+-RW or CD-RW or Zip disks to store the backup of your partitions.
