Ok guys here my question. i will be playing games on 1440 X 900 which of the cards should i buy Geforce 8600GTS 512 MB OR Gefore 8800 GTS 320 MB. Thanks in advance

Hard to say since the 8600 isn't out yet. My choice would be for the 8600 because it's supposed to be cheaper and the extra memory should help it with higher resolutions. Not that 14x9 is all that tough. It also depends on the games. RTS' tend to require more CPU horsepower than FPS'. Wait until real benchmarks come out before you make any decision.

Early benchies say the GF8800GTS is the way to go, but wait for final information and optimized drivers before anything for sure.

I would doubt it, the GF8600 has about 50% the bandwidth (higher clocks/40% bitwidth), and that will be as much of a limiting factor as the memory size if not more at higher resolution/settings.

Thats true. I forgot it still only has a 128 bit interface. As far as benchmarks go, I can't tell with this cards. Tech sites say that it's supposed to be competitive or better than the X1950 XTor XTX, but early benchmarks (real or not) say otherwise. I would still wait until it is actually released before I made my decision.

It is out and I would say go for the GTS 320 thats what im gonna do i game at the same resolution and almost bought the 8600 today when i stumbled upon it at BB just because it was there and in my price range.

Well the only thing that people use to justify it as being close to the X1950XT is 3Dmark, and as so many cards have shown, it's not a good indicator of game proficiency.

We'll have to see if it gains much from new drivers, but I think it's gonna be tough for the GF8600GTS especially with the GTS-320 within striking distance in price.

go with the 8800gts if your buying right now as its FAR superior as all the benchies are showing since its only 128bit but i think once ati comes around with their mid range dx10 cards you will see a big drop in 8600 prices
so in conclusion 8800gts 320 hands down.
