I use Network Places in xp prosp2 to manage files on my website via FTP. I can rename and delete files on the server and copy files from the HD onto the server. However I can not move or copy files from within the server. Nor can I save a file directly onto the server from within another application. Is this normal or am I missing something?

if you don't use explorer to hit the ftp what happens, if you use ws_ftp or something, cuteftp, any other app. than explorer

you can also use the command line version to test it out

ftp has always been sorta flaky with explorer, does it make a difference if you login with/without passive mode?
