External Enclosure not working? help!

i bought a Icey box external enclosure but the computer wont recognize the usb at all.. its a kinda old harddrive, only 40 gb but i would like to access the old files in there. has it anything to do with the jumpers? plz help.

I'd try both Master and Cable select. Does the enclosure have its own power or is it using the USB for power? If the latter, I believe only certain USB ports can be used, I think the ones on the back of the machine but not absolutely sure of this.

yea i did :b the problem was some chip in the harddisk was burned but it did work with another harddisk so np :b thanks anyway
