So what are you guys running to protect your PC? Right now I'm running...

- Zone Alarm Security Suite as my primary protection. (Firewall, AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, IM Protection, Email Protection, Program Control, Identity Protection, and Parental Control)

For backup software (the more, the merrier) I'm using...

- AVG Free (AntiVirus)
- Spybot: Search and Destroy (AntiSpyware)
- Symantec Client Firewall* (Firewall)
- Symantec Client Antivirus* (AntiVirus)

*Corporate Edition.

Work I use:
McAfee Enterprise
Spybot
(also have select web blocking plus a blacklist in my hosts file to get rid of a lot of crap sites.)

Home:
McAfee Enterprise
Spybot
um, a few other random things.

I can safely say I don't get a lot of problems.. very minor things, cookies, etc. here and there. again, using the blacklist at home as well.

Yeah, its pretty easy to stay virus-free as long as your not being stupid and downloading porn from Limewire or something. Spyware can be a hassle, but it's easy to kill with a once a week scan.

Panda Platinum Internet Security.

Anti-virus, firewall, anti-spam and anti-spyware. I have not had one problem with spyware since using it... and I visit some less-than-reputable sites at times.

Also have a D-Link DI-604 router.

My first line of defense is my Dlink Di634m router which has a built in firewall. On the software side of things i use:
NOD32 AV
Spysweeper 5.3
Zone Alarm Pro
Peerguardian2

I do quick scans every other day and full scans once a week. And once a month or so i do secondary scans with Kapersky, Adaware, Hijackthis,Windows Live scanner and a few others to make sure nothing is getting through. I got very serious about security when my previous system got infected and I ended up losing about 300gigs of ripped cds. When I built my new system last year i made security a top priority. I built a much more powerful pc then I really needed so i could keep it secure without slowing it down much. It has paid off, I havent had a single infection on this system and its over a year old. I highly reccomend NOD32/Spysweeper/Zone Alarm pro for anyone serious about PC security.

switch the za with sygate pro and then you have my setup ;)

I don't know why you are listing pg as a security app, its not, it is however good for blocking fake sources in p2p apps but that is about it ;)

How do you lose data from a virus? :)

I've never experienced this in my entire career in IT.

People are always telling me they got a virus and lost all their data.. yet I've never seen or heard of a virus that causes all information on a computer to be wiped out.

Even backin the day when Melissa hit.. I spent time fixing computers and never had any data loss.

I assume you just gave up and formated your computer?
