So it's my first time building my own PC, more of a choice to save some money and get better control over which parts I'm getting. I've been doing my research and have finally narrowed it down to the following. But I'll submit my results to the experts here in the forum to make sure it's acceptable before I go and place my order:

Proc: Intel 6600
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3
GFX: EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS
Ram: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 800
Disk: Western Digital Caviar 500gb SATA
PSU: SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-550HT
Case: LIAN LI PC-60BPLUSII

I hope I'm not missing anything.

edit: price drops on Intel CPUs coming April 22, not sure if you want to wait

1)Be sure to check the rev on your MB.
The Gigabyte's are coming out with versions that officially support the 1333FSB.

New Egg has the DS3 version now that does.
Not sure about the S3 version.

2)Wait for the price drops and a cheaper model C2D and put the saved money into the 640MB version of the GPU.

jeff, for your great taste in hardware, you get a 9. (You would have a 10 but your mobo is a different revision than mine  )

Thanks so much for pointing that out Zen as I was going to buy one after the 22nd. Is this the one you were referring to?

I'm already taking the price drop into account. Just some of the other parts have nice rebates going for them at the moment.

Yes.
That's the one.

For $5 over the S3 looks like a no-brainer at the moment.

Everything looks good, should turn out to be an excellent solid PC. Like others stated, I would go with the DS3 since so many people have it and mostly it received positive reviews. I wouldn't consider getting the 640 MB version of the video card unless you play at very high resolution (1600-1200 or higher). Would also need a sound card if you're going to use speakers, otherwise, you'd be fine with onboard.
