True or False on SP! for P5B deluxx

Just finished my attempt at building my system. Have everything in and running so far. (running as in lights and fans). I have the P5B delux and I read in the manual something about only using Windows XP service package2. Is this a true statement and what does service pack 2 have over a service pack1, or was there ever a service pack1. Geeeeze this is getting confusing and frustrating.

There are three 'levels' of xp right now. XP origonal, xp sp1, and xp sp2.
They want you to use sp2 for security and compatability reasons. If you have an older version of xp you will be ok during install. You might wait to install the chipset drivers until after installing sp2 though.
