I have a external HDD converted to external. I formatted it as fat32 because some idiot said I need to convert it to fat32 for a mac pc to reconize it. But someone else told me that you dont' have to do that. Now I want to format back to NTFS but my pc isn't recognizing my HDD. I'm using USB to connect to my pc. My current os i'm using is winxp s/2. Originally I had it as NTFS and had no problems.

Seagate 300gb.

More about : reconizing hdd

The easiest way would be to just put it in the computer and format it. I'd would probably use the mfg installation software off a Floppy but regardless installing it would be the easiest way

A Mac can read NTFS, however it can't write to an NTFS partition. So if you need it readable and writable on both, the FAT32 is your only option. Try using a utility like Partition Magic to format the drive. XP itself has problems formatting FAT32 partitions over 32GB or somewhere around there.

The problem is I was told that I needed to format my hdd to fat32 because of the mac pc i was using. But Then I was told that I didn't need to do that. But now I want to change it back to ntfs, but my pc is not reconizing it. I use the HDD as storage.
