MAC OS X or Windows XP

I'm a windows user and know some things about unix and linux. I am going to install MAC OS X on my PC. Just wondering which would be better (excluding gaming) for most applications.

I basically am using a p4 3 ghz with a 915p chipset and 2 gb of ddr 400 ram. I am using this for documents, internet browsing, and file serving. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would say get a decent distro of Linux and forget about Mac OS unless you have Apple hardware. To me, it doesn't seem worth the effort.
