RC-1 is released... however it doesn't look like it's been released to the general public yet. If you were in the Beta 2, you should be getting an email from M$ concerning RC-1.

Ok cheers Any idea if my key will still work from Beta 2 or will it be a new one?
Download for RC-1 limited to previous beta users only?
Comment on Vista pricing:
Most forums I have looked at say MS pricing too high and better off to stay with what we got. Too many pricing levels . Why not one level
like most WINDOWS OSes?
I havn't done anything with the ISO yet...the serial is not one of the files in it? If not, how does one get the serial?
Do I have to extract the files with an ISO utility and then burn all of the files to a DVD?
What i have been able to tell from microsofts webpage you have to sign up for their Customer Preview program or whatever its callen and then you will get a serial
There are two different downloads, 32 bit and 64 bit. I am currently running 64 bit Vista, and it runs fine. Be advised though, it will need to be registered, and you'll only have 14 Days to activate, so don't install unless you're willing to lose everything or have a second harddrive or second partition.
Good luck.
Edit: You CAN install without a serial in advance.
where or how do i actually sign up for Vista RC1? They have no links ont he site for signing up, just tells you what you can do, not how, which doesn't help me at all since i was not signed up for Beta 2. thanks.
also waht about drivers? I only saw video card driver on the site, i didn't see any chipset drivers listed, even for new 590 chipsets for vista? Does it have nvidia drivers integrated or no longer need/automatically dl those drivers now?

Seriously how hard would it have been to look just 4 posts above and see the same link as yours in my post???????
Found out that even though I hadn't installed with my product ID and registered it online it still works. Running 32bit Vista. ONly thing that doesn't want to work is Trend Micro's AV Internet Security suite which was meant to work on Vista RC1 :?
I've got Vista RC1 up and running. I actually downloaded it using a torrent cause I couldn't wait for the RC1 program thing to open again (as it turns out, it opened the same day I installed Vista, so now I have it activated and its technically legal). It runs pretty fine with Aero and the Sidebar features on. If you read my topic above this one you'll see one of the problems I've been getting: massive, unexplainable harddrive access. It actually happened overnight... the HD led was consistently on when I went to sleep and still on when I woke up. My RAM usage is fine (50%) so I have no clue what causes this.
My PC:
Athlon X2 3800(AM2)
1GB DDR2 533 RAM (128MB to GeForce 6100)
160 GB Seagate SATA2 7200.9 HD
Other than the "minor" problem, I like Vista... Aero is pretty cool.
