Hey guys, really didnt know where to post this so sorry in advance. I have my new rig setup an ready to order, its gonna be nasty, but i have a terrible monitor a SCEPTRE D73F http://www.sceptre.com/Products/Monitors/Specifications/d73f.htm
i recently heard that if u have a bad monitor it will make your games look laggier and not smooth. Is this true? if so, will my monitor make the cut? it's like 3 years old btw. Would i rather buy a 100 dollar 17 inch LCD? I will only buy it if this monitor makes my games look laggy and choppy and not smooth. Thank you in advance.

It is true that refresh rate can affect displayed framerates, but I would say that you shouldn't have any problems with that monitor. Things will look ok. A better monitor would help, but it shouldn't be bad enough where you have to run out and get a new monitor immediately.

On some games it won't look at 1280X1024 (the refresh rate is only 60). This doesn't apply to all games but from my experience it happens (I've got this problem in C&C3 but didn't affect UT2004)

Good luck

Well, a better monitor wouldn't hurt, so I would do that if I were you.

Here's one on newegg for a good price:
