Hi Guys Does anyone know why can't i select resolution not more then 1152X864. i have sumsung 941BW LCD which suports 1440X900. but in game it doesn't show up.
You can "force" your LCD monitor rez to anything you want. If the game dosn't have the rez you need then simply set your game CP video setting to a rez that is there and supported, click apply. Then go to your BF2 and or SpForces game shotrcuts you use to play and edit the "Target" line in the setting to read:
BF2
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 (or what ever values you want to use)
SpForces
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 (or what ever values you want to use)
This also works well with the "wide screen" rez settings also. I personally like my 24" ws set at 1920 and 1200.
***Just remember to set your BF2 Game CP to a supported suggested rez first , then edit your short cut. Your CP will still show the old setting but your game will actually be using the "forced" rez from the shortcut edit!

I agree with that. i have done the same on my 16x10 monitor.
yes hes right, but in his system spec dell user say he cant oc a dell - im sure if he flashed his bios he would e able to regain some control - and why did you not build your system

- i know its sort of off the point
WTF are you talking about idiot? a 8800 GTS DESTROYS BF2, and 2142, and. . . well, every other game I've ever thrown at it. I'm not sure what you have to gain by casting the most advanced GPU money can buy in a bad light, but I assure you, you just make yourself look like a schmuck.
i ran FAER @ 1440 and it was laggy - so i would stick with the lower res.
on help front - there maybe be a game patch your missing
but i would leave (especially if FPS concerns you)
That's because you have a 7300GT; he has an 8800GTS and it's MANY times faster than the card you own.
To the original poster, that's what happens when you buy a monitor that's native resolution is only 1440x900; if a game doesn't support widescreen it has to be dropped down to the highest 4:3 resolution your monitor supports. :?

I don't have the confidence to build a machine, but I'm working on it by reading and gaining knowledge here. The Dell that I bought cost me less than the cost of the components since I got it from the Dell outlet and when I do decide to build I will simply purchase a case,mb and psu and use the components from the Dell to complete the build.
As far as overclocking the cpu, no one has found a way to hack the Dell bios so that it would be able to be done.
For now I am quite pleased with what I have, as SockPuppet pointed out the 8800 GTS destroys games and the E6600 in my machine has more than enough power.
I have done some modifications to help cool the video and personalize the machine
