I'm helping a far-away friend deal with a hard drive replacement that involves reformatting, partitioning, etc. I am looking for a LiveCD that includes remote "desktop sharing". The catch is that I'm looking for a Live CD that will "talk" to a D-Link UPnP router to automatically configure the forwarding back to the machine running the LiveCD. My friend is quite computer illiterate, so I don't relish the idea of talking him through port forwarding on his router.
I know that before his computer's HD failed, he could send me XP SP2 "remote assistance" invitations that worked just fine. XP auto-configured the invitations to pass through the D-Link router to his PC. Surely Linux can do the same? I'm really desperate!
