i am currently using a singlecore amd 3700 in socket 939
and have a x2 4400 dualcore ready to install on a asus a8nsli32deluxe
mobo.

my question is will there be any problems on the cpu swap?

i am using xp home edition (oem) not retail?

tough call, if the system detects a major hardware change which may require a new HAL to be installed, you may not be able to boot, and may have to repair install your o/s

but just make sure your bios is up to date and give it a go, worst case senario you can put the old cpu back in and prepare to repair install or just rebuild windows with your new cpu

update on my op.

i uninstalled a64 drivers and rebooted. then downloaded latest bios
but did not flash.

then swapped cpu and windows detected it. woohoo.
rebooted again and it works great.

its much hotter than the single core though.
