I advise you not to spend money on obsolete hardware. For $200 you can get a decent CPU (dual core Athlon), a motherboard, and a gig of ram! And if you add $100 or more for a video card, you'll have a machine that's a MILLION times better than your current one. Though if you've made up your mind, then a processor like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116215

And a 9800 pro or XT should get you along.

PLEASE don't get a 9800se, they were trash when thay were new! A 9600pro is faster that a 9800se! Get a newer 7600gs or x1650pro for about $100 on newegg.com. Anything faster is a waste of speed/money with a CPU that slow. Newegg also has a 3.0E prescott for $90. keeps you in your budget and is much faster than what you have now.

If at all possible I would have to agree! You can get some much more by upgrading to newer technology. Even if you spend around $200-$300.

Ok, the post said se, so I got scared for a second there. No, the XT isn't worth $100, as the cards I listed are 2 generations more advanced and more than twice as fast. The PSU, if it is of good quality, shouldn't have an issue with the card and CPU. If it is an el' cheapo brand $10 PSU you are lucky to have had it work this long and it should be replaced before anything else.
