think of it like this, some little dinosaur or somthing evolved into a chicken, the evolution process takes steps when offspring is born, an animal is not born and then turns into a chicken before it dies. so the very first animal that could be called a chicken was an egg first. hence the egg was first.

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

How about we simplify it?

Dinosaurs lived at LEAST 100 million years ago, hence, there were eggs being layed back then. Chickens didn't appear until much later. Therefore, eggs come before chickens.

The problem says nothing about the egg being a chicken egg.
