need a card. choice is between a 7950gt, x1950xt and 8800gts

At least wait until the R600 range is reviewed. Chances are your PSU will run it ok.

And if you still don't want it surely the 8800 price drops in response to the release of it...

Keep in mind that 8800 is DX10 card, and has way better performance over others, I say ‎‎8800, we bought 2 of them last month for two of my friends… I’m really satisfied with ‎the performance and everything, drivers are much better now with new release.‎

Why the hell all of you people on this forums think your PSUs won't be sufficient? What I read here (forum, not this thread) is a kind of torture, every time the same concerns about Psupplies  

Well, my first choice would be the 8800. But I too would also wait it out just a bit. I'm running Vista and a 7950GT and its a great card but even it stutters every now and then. Also the 8800 is DX10.

The x1950xt will destroy the 7950GT in most games... but with the price so close to the 8800GTS 320.. I would get the 320... but don't anyways.. wait wait wait...

As most have said, the 8800 is the best choice. However, the R600 is not that far off. If they don't delay it again, you should wait for it to come out. On another note, I hope brick88's psu is enough for the R600. If it requires THAT much power, then I will have to go with the 8800.

Your existing power supply should be more then enough for it. Wait for the R600. All good things come to those who wait.

He has a budget and he has a deadline. The budget I think might well be ok. The time line is not - I and other users are asking him to consider waiting for a while as it could well be in his interests to do so.

If you want anything else other than this, then I'm sure specialist needs ones exist to cater for your taste.

Anywhoo, I think waiting to see the smoke clear makes sense at this point (not months ago), and by this time next week it should be clear what the future has to offer from both camps.

And I suspect a deal or two on the GF8800GTSs and maybe a GTS-640 for close enough to the current GTS-320 to make it a viable contender for the OP.

Look - this thread really isn't about you and whatever issues you have. If it has to be personalised, it should be about the OP's question which has already been answered.

If you want to talk about yourself and any your various issues that you raise, start your own thread.

i mean like its an amazing psu but i don't want to tax it so much that it won't be usable in a couple of yrs.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that I won't be running insane resolutions. 1440x900 is about it. im more worried about potential driver issues.

i got a 7600 too and i though about it a lot too... and the conclusion is that the 7600 is a good card even now and i ll probably upgrade to a revision of the 8800 or x2900 when the price comes down a little

Here is some advice for you. Next time you want to keep a thread personal with the OP then I suggest you keep all of comments directed towards that individual instead of making derogatory comments about another poster in the thread which btw you did and I have already pointed out more than once.

That psu should be around for a long time, even with an R600 installed.

I'd say go for the 320MB 8800GTS if you've got the money.
