okay my 7600gt is being abused by vista+games. so yeah i have vista right now and i have a 300 dollar budget. im not going to wait for r600 to come out becuz even if it was in my budget it'll probably blow apart my psu. so i have a choice between the ~$200 evga 7950gt. the ~$200 sapphire x1950xt 256mb. and the $260 after rebate evga8800gts 320mb. i know performance wise the 8800 is the easy answer but vista has horrible drivers for it. eventually nvidia will probably get it right but is it worth all that extra hassle if i buy it and not be able to actually use it till say 3 months from now?

More about : card choice 7950gt x1950xt 8800gts

At least wait until the R600 range is reviewed. Chances are your PSU will run it ok.

And if you still don't want it surely the 8800 price drops in response to the release of it...

Keep in mind that 8800 is DX10 card, and has way better performance over others, I say ‎‎8800, we bought 2 of them last month for two of my friends… I’m really satisfied with ‎the performance and everything, drivers are much better now with new release.‎

Why the hell all of you people on this forums think your PSUs won't be sufficient? What I read here (forum, not this thread) is a kind of torture, every time the same concerns about Psupplies :p
April 16, 2007 11:01:07 PM

Well, my first choice would be the 8800. But I too would also wait it out just a bit. I'm running Vista and a 7950GT and its a great card but even it stutters every now and then. Also the 8800 is DX10.
April 16, 2007 11:01:38 PM

hmmmm.. wait for r600s surely a price battle shall commence leaving you with better deals..

The x1950xt will destroy the 7950GT in most games... but with the price so close to the 8800GTS 320.. I would get the 320... but don't anyways.. wait wait wait...

As most have said, the 8800 is the best choice. However, the R600 is not that far off. If they don't delay it again, you should wait for it to come out. On another note, I hope brick88's psu is enough for the R600. If it requires THAT much power, then I will have to go with the 8800.
April 16, 2007 11:24:26 PM

Your existing power supply should be more then enough for it. Wait for the R600. All good things come to those who wait.

Wow- you didn't post any Oblivion screenshots to back up your comments - there's a first.

In direct response to the question, there is no harm in waiting now beyond a few weeks, and even then, what is the loss?

If you mean jealous of the power of the cards to play at high enough resolutions to show all the graphical short-comings of the character rendering in Oblivion, then yes, count me in

Go and look at your electricity bill - should be higher than your 3D Mark score.

Is it even possible for you to say ANTHING civilized??? You've got some serious issues Mr. RobsX2/Robs88s. What's next, Robivegot28800gtxsandthatmakesmebetterthaneveryoneelseiloveonlymyselfandhaveabitterhatredfortherestoftheworldsucksnottobeme?

Blah blah blah  Im used to getting this sort of attitude from jealous little cunts like you so do yourself a favor and save it.

Dont you think that If I can afford a high end rig with SLI'd 8800GTX's then I can certainly afford the power bill which btw is roughly the same as its always been.

70+FPS in Oblivion in the thick of the forest at high res with all the bells and whistles on along with 16XMSAA and 16XAF. I can understand you being jealous

You knew damn good and well that your sarcastic comment directed towards me was with the intent of starting a war with me. Now that you got what you wanted you can stop b1tching.

Stop acting like the innocent one here when it was in fact you who started this sh1t to begin with. Anyone that can half ass comprehend what they read can see that.

If I can just interupt you insulting every forum member here for a second or two?

This thread isn't about you. your ego, or your PC. It's about the user's question.

He has a budget and he has a deadline. The budget I think might well be ok. The time line is not - I and other users are asking him to consider waiting for a while as it could well be in his interests to do so.

If you want anything else other than this, then I'm sure specialist needs ones exist to cater for your taste.

Just to point something out again;

No one never said it wouldnt

However the OP clearly said: " im not going to wait for r600 to come out becuz even if it was in my budget it'll probably blow apart my psu."

I think that was directed at that comment, but that's just how I read the flow of the thread.

Anywhoo, I think waiting to see the smoke clear makes sense at this point (not months ago), and by this time next week it should be clear what the future has to offer from both camps.

And I suspect a deal or two on the GF8800GTSs and maybe a GTS-640 for close enough to the current GTS-320 to make it a viable contender for the OP.

You mad it personal with this comment-

So now you can fukin deal with the repercussions of being a c0ck.

If you are gonna run your mouth about someone and make derogatory statements about them then I suggest you prepare yourself for that person to respond. IDIOT.

Look - this thread really isn't about you and whatever issues you have. If it has to be personalised, it should be about the OP's question which has already been answered.

If you want to talk about yourself and any your various issues that you raise, start your own thread.

Tip: include some screenshots as well.
April 17, 2007 3:12:27 AM

i mean like its an amazing psu but i don't want to tax it so much that it won't be usable in a couple of yrs.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that I won't be running insane resolutions. 1440x900 is about it. im more worried about potential driver issues.
April 17, 2007 5:38:08 AM

easy 8800 it wastes the rest of the   m
April 17, 2007 6:37:28 AM

i got a 7600 too and i though about it a lot too... and the conclusion is that the 7600 is a good card even now and i ll probably upgrade to a revision of the 8800 or x2900 when the price comes down a little

Here is some advice for you. Next time you want to keep a thread personal with the OP then I suggest you keep all of comments directed towards that individual instead of making derogatory comments about another poster in the thread which btw you did and I have already pointed out more than once.

You truly are the biggest jackass to ever grace any forum I have ever come across.

That psu should be around for a long time, even with an R600 installed.

I'd say go for the 320MB 8800GTS if you've got the money.
