Hi guys,

Was wondering if you could help me out on this one. I tried installing a lcd monitor on a computer yesturday andfound i had to update the drivers to get the right resolution. after installing the drivers computer started up find but when i went to chage the resolution the computer acted normal and was able to change to the correct resolution but the moment i clicked ok windows start to hang but still had mouse control would not even let me get to task mager to restart the explorer.exe. after I was forced to restart ther computer it will only get to the blue welcome screen and the windows XP logo would fade in and nothing will happen after that. tried going into safe mode and vga mode but still nothing. also tried chkdsk /r but that didn't work.

any suggestions to this issue would be Appreciated,

Thank you.

hmmm, you could try the recovery console with your windows xp installation disc. You may be able to roll it back to previous state with that.

also you can try the following in order to boot your last known good configuartion which hopefully would also roll back the bad driver for you.

Thanks for the advice. that seemed to do the trick but instead of using recovery console I used a copy of Barts PE that put windows on a cd to copy the system restore file to the system 32 folder.

in case anyone is wanting to know how to do this here is a link for step by step instructions using the recovery console:

System restore with recovery console
