What is the bestDDR2 RAM around?

Just out of curiosity. I have some pretty good RAM, but i've seen corsair at 1250mhz and higher i think, and i also recently heard about Buffalo Firestix, which also seem pretty good.

PS. What would teh rating be, as in pc 10 000?

PC2 = DDR2 x 8, so DDR2-800 = PC2-6400.

Buffalo FireStix and Crucial Ballistix are some of the best you can get.
Rating depends on what you need/want. Someone who has a stock E4300 on needs PC2-3200 (aka DDR2-400) but if you wan't to overclock to ~500FSB you need DDR2-1000.

If you don't need the higher frequency your probably better off going for tighter timings.

If you had memory like this you would want to run a divider so that you could run your memory at max speed. This would give you better FPS in games, but if you had something like DDR2-800 and were running a speed of 333mhz, it would better to run your memory asynchronously and run it with tighter timings. But with memory at the speed in the above link you would see an improvement rather than a drop in performance if you did that in the above situation.

Funny part is, my RAM actually got to 1180 at those timings without the water block. Only thing holding it back was the processor 8)

I think teh highest I've ever heard overclocked was like 1400mhz or something insane.

The ram i listed could go to 1200mhz and higher. Note the stock timings on the Corsair are 4-4-4-12 @ 1111mhz

On the 680i the Dominator reached a stable DDR2-1315, which is the fastest performance we have ever measured on this board. Even more significantly, Dominator PC2-8888 was able to run all our benchmarks at 4-4-4 timings at DDR2-1233. This speed at 4-4-4 timings yielded top-notch performance in all our benchmarks. There are two components to memory performance - speed and memory timings - and the Corsair Dominator 1111 appears to excel in both areas.

but if you're too lazy to go there, i'll just tell that its the same stuff as i linked to you in the above post except instead of the tighter timings at a lower speed they run at a higher speed with looser timings. This is obviously apparent by the fact that they both top out at 1315mhz, you should note though that apparently nvidia has optimized the 680i to be the best memory overclocking board out there as it was the only board to be able to achieve these memory clocks.

Note that all this is done under the MOST stable benching condition, not max overclocking at ridiculous voltage like on the xtremesystems.
