Who thinks we will see an 8800 Ultra Today?

I think the odds of seeing a GF8800U before an R600 are slim to none. Likely that date was based on ATi releasing the R600 in march not April.

However anything is possible I guess.

NONE.

The Ultra is going to be a limited edition card, made in 10's. It's not going to be a card that's really readily available.

The real comp for R600 will be 8900 series. Or should i say the next significant launch by NV will be the 8900 series.

Back in the days that we still had hope that the R600 would launch this year...that's when we might have seen the ultra launched today.

Someday when AMD/ATI decides they care about their customers again and actually release something worthwhile like the R600 or maybe care to just preview it so that everyone doesn't convert to Nvidia, we'll see the ultra or the 8900.

He didn't ask if we could buy it, just if we would see it.

Which customers would that be?
The mid to low end is full fo ATi cards. It's the minor portion of the high end that has your panties in a knot. That would be like VW focusing on Bugatti at the expense of Their VDub and Audi group.

Also how does refining a product for the customer show they don't care for their end users?

Launching an unfinished product would show more 'care' and dedication?

It prolly came out the wrong way, I'm just so fed up of their broken promises. I hear what you saying but I thought it was confirmed that the R600 was finished a while ago already...can't remember why the delay again...they use a different one every time.

Yeah, too much fud mixed with the facts in the 100's of threads about the r600. Can't remember all of it and where I get it though but I could have sworn the card was confirmed to have been finished a while back...

Well well well, maybe I'll just hold off on that new build for a couple more months. If it means getting the 8800gtx for cheaper then it's well worth the wait.

Whats the market share today?havent seen anything for a while

Don't know about today, but the only latest numbers;
http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20070410PD212.html

A breakdown of the Q4 results showed that the workstation market despite being down $200mil in sales outsold the Enthusiast $250+ gaming market by 57%, which was a higher differential than the Quarter before when there were both more workstation sales and more Enthusiast sales.

The money (not market share but revenue share) is still 72% in the $150-249 market, and 14% in the $80-149 market. With comparative market share unit sales of 30:1 and 10:1 respectively compared to the high end.

To be honest, I (and I'm guessing a lot of other people around here) would rather see an 8600Ultra rather than an 8800Ultra.

Definitely, 100% Agree !
I'll go along with that.
