sometimes after re-boot windows it changes my theme settings from classic > default... and its starting to drive me crazy.. never had this problem ever before on any of my systems.. but I now own a c2d 6600.. what gives?

system properties > use visual styles on windows and buttons = OFF
properties > themes = windows classic
properties > apperance = windows classic style

anyone else ever had this problem??

maby its a virus .
do a system scan with your antivirus soft.

It did it on a FRESH install of windows xp pro, home, corporate on a brand new hard drive, even before i connected to the internet.. also I tried

- AVG, nothing!
- MSdefender, nothing!
- Trend micro online scan, nothing!

Im @ my wits end, does anyone know howto delete the stupid XP default theme, or overwrite it with the classic? or is it embedded in a dll somewhere?

Do you have more that one user account? More than one user accessing the computer?

create a new user profile and test it
make sure the themes service in services.msc is set to automatic

themes service was set to automatic..

i checked out the user accounts.. and for some reason dotnetfix added a user.. i deleted it, changed the way users login.. ie no faster user switching / turned off welcome... and now it seems that windows retains my original classic xp skin!!
