I'm glad I bought an 8800 GTS 320MB :D

hey the 8600gts is not bad by any means. Its an excellent overclocker, but i agree the 8800gts is probably the best bang for your buck right now. But for people with a limited budget i think the 8600gts is nearly the same thing with the 6600gt. It just completely blows away everything else in that price point. With ati releasing its cards soon I don't doubt some huge price drops bringing the 8800gts below $250 (which is the magic number for me) and the 8600gts around $150( yet another magic number)

As many have stated let the dust settle before making any conclusions.

I read the article,
Oh, hum.
Seems I'll keep my X1950XT a while..

These cards really aren't what i was expecting.
All this hype...and wah-wah-waaah.
I was hoping for 48 unified shaders and 256bit out of the 8600gts.
At these prices, my 7600gt is going to be sitting in my pc for a while longer.

What are you talking about?
the X1950XT (not PRO) is currently in the GF8600GTS' pricepoint, and it blows the doors off the GTS, and the X1950GT and X1950Pro are in the plain GT card's price point and they dominate the plain GT.

It's a nice card for the midragne looking for no power plug, if they bring the price down, but don't oversell it. It's overpriced right now.

I have no problem with the GTS-320 it's a great card for the price right now, and has been for a while, but the GF8600GTS needs to launch closer to that $150 (like $180ish max) than where it currently is. It's nowhere near anything in it's price range, and the GTS-320 is too close to it for anyone to take the GF8600GTS seriously.

No amount of overclocking will fix that.
