A friend asked me earlier, what is the best "free" virus scan. He believes he has a few virus' on his laptop, and wants to get rid of them. I had no clue, but figured some of you might. If it is a free trial, I would rather not do it, just something that is fairly good and free would be preferred.

Yea the best thing about these programs are i find the more the better.

I always have

Firefox
Zone Alarm PRO tweaked to best capacity.
Ad-Aware
Pest Partrol.. which i find to be excellent.
AVG anti-Virus..

I got just these guys running and i just know where im going and be smart about things and i never get any popups, ads, etc..

My system runs superb.

Ad-Aware and Spybot just don't seem to cut it for me anymore... I used to swear by them, but now they don't seem to be as effective as they once were. I now prefer AVG Antispyware and Windows Defender... they just plain get rid of more problems than the other two.

NOD32 is rated one of the best in the world( maybe the best) small footprint and comes fully functional for a 30 day trail period, Adaware and Spybot used to be OK, but I haven't used them for a year or more now, Super AntiSpyware is free and very good too, and I even use Opera and IE
