In the following image you will see what I am trying to do. The bottom line is I am trying to create a bridge to a wap in client mode that has a switch attached to it with various network ready appliances attached to the switch.
One would think this is pretty simple but I have nearly zero success up to this point. The issue is wap client will not let me ping the printer across the wireless bridge.
When I take system A and plug it directly into the switch on the 'other side' of the bridge, I can access the configuration utility of the printer and can ping the printer with no problems. I can print to it, configure it, flash its bios etc etc etc
In this configuration, I can ping the wap, and system A across the bridge from system B. I can from system A ping system B and all other net components across the bridge. I can print from system B to the printer across the bridge using the 'shared printer' on A.
What I don't understand is why I cannot ping the the printer across the bridge?
All network static ip and automatic ip are perfectly fine. The printer has been assigned a static ip, the wap is configured as a client, the mac address is fine....I can surf the net all day long from the remote side of the bridge to the main router...
Yet....the printer is not there...pinging it the other way...
SNMP was enabled on the wap to no effect...
This printer has performed flawlessly as a wired network device for a couple of years
Any help or comment at all would be appreciated...
edit: what I am trying to do is basically create a wireless network switch...and for the life of me I don't understand why these are not available as ready made stand alone devices...
