Yeah, you are probably right. My reaction was from a combo of being a little surprised by the benchies and feeling really shitty. If you can find a DX10 AGP (GF 8600 or X2600) for under 200 it would probably be a good buy.
To Comptia: uh....what? I know you're joking but I have no idea what you meant, lol.
yeah i was a little sad panda at the reviews, but ill still get one for my old dying agp system. I've pretty much learned to not even look at the 3dmarkxx benchmarks now.
from what I read nvidia can't make an agp version of the 8xxx cards some problem with the design.
ATI said it would work but for now I don't even know when will the pci-e cards will be released...
I can't seem to find the interviews with people from ati and nvidia it's somewhere here on tom's...
anyway it will take some time, if you need a card you'll be better off with 1950pro... or consider upgrading your motherboard (the pci-e are cheaper and have more options)
I'm serious, give it up. You need to buy a new motherboard.
Your AGP based motherboard is so old now, it's got to start to get rust-throughs for crying out loud.
Uri, where you referring to the release of DAMIT's knew cards or NVidia's mid-range? NVidia's mid-range have been released all ready and I have no idea (neither does anyone else) about a solid release date from DAMIT.
Comptia: I got what you're saying now. And though I know you were joking, I must point this out. I was saying it wasn't worth it because of it's not so great performance, not because it was AGP. If he can't upgrade his mobo and AGP is the best he can do, then by all means he should go for it.
