I recently bought a Samsung SIR-T451 digital TV tuner. When I set it up, I
had it scan for digital signals. Channel 42 in West Palm Beach, FL has a
digital signal on channel 27. Usually when I enter in a digital channel
directly, I get the DT channel and the analog channel number (that is,
channel 10's digital channel is 9. If I enter 9 directly, I get channel 10).
However, when I enter channel 27 directly, I get channel one (not channel
42), with no programming, and a "hidden" attribute. Has anyone else
encountered this ?

Blue Cat:

I believe IF a Digital TV station does not enter the PSIP

(Text for Channel ID & Program Offerings 'correctly') data into

the digital Program data stream... Channel 1 has a possibility

of being referenced with TV Program info Not carried along.

The DTV station has to corrects it's 'rookie' mistake....

Will you be the first to call 'em?

I notice this as well with SIR-T351. Analog channel 26 (WCIU) which
broadcasts on digital channel 27 shows as 1-1. And what I think might be
related analog 28 shows up as 1-2 (WFBT-CA).

Whether I punch 01 or 27 on the remote, I end up on 1-1.

Weigel owned stations are under a corporate mandate to set their PSIP remap
info to channel 1. This should end when the FCC requires stations to clean
up their acts re: PSIP. That is scheduled for Feb, 2005.

I have no idea. It is not mentioned in the set top box user manual. Also,
channel 42 in West Palm Beach is PBS, so this affects non-commercial, as
well as commercial stations.
