Windows XP Stability

Hi, i got windows XP Home edition on my computer and he is very unstable. It crash very often and those crash damage Windows files and registry so i get permanent bug. What can i do to make my Windows more stable.

My System is
Motherboard: Asus A8N Sli Premium
CPU: AMD 3500+ 2.2Ghz
Graphic: 2X eVGA 6800 Ultra in SLI Mode
Ram: 1G Kingston DDR 400 (2X512)
HDD: 1X Western Digital Raptor 10000RPM 150G SATA, 1X Western Digital 7200RPM 500G SATA & 1X Maxtor 7200RPM 120G IDE
Soundcard: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
Power Supllie: Antec ATX 2.0 480 Watt

why don't you just clean install xp
what type of stability issues are you having exactly
do you know if your box is overheating?
