my IE 7 and firefox 2 browsers have strange habits of crashing frequently when I surf the net. I already updated both browsers to java 9 platform and flash 9 plugins.

I have window XP service pack2 with all security, software updates. notwithstanding, they still crash for no dam reason. the browser hang before crashing. I check event log, event viewer which show application hang as message.

What can I do to prevent them from crashing? There is no specific error codes to every time browsers crash. I can't check MS knowledge base for solutions. Would torrent cause browser to crash ? my torrent download speed wasn't running that fast, 40kb/sec , upload speed 10kb/sec. I defragged HD frequently during the week. I even tried surfing the net with torrent shut down but browser still crash. I wasn't running any other CPU intensive application. I check confirm it with window task manager that no other processes were running other than essential to OS.

possible malware, you should do a few scans and check it out, see what's going on

any particular sites cause a crash?
surf around a bit in safe mode with networking to see if you still have problems

my browsers crash at any sites. they crash even when I tried to closed them or just access plain google search site.

I will do a HD scan to find out what's going on.
