Vid Card problems...Advice?

Long story short, I can't get my video card to be recognized. Whenever I attempt to install it, my mobo shuts down after 4-5 seconds. I'm assmuing it does this because of lack of power, because the CPU fan won't engage when the vid card is installed. I've installed the card into my friend's system, and it works fine. I went so far as to buy a new PSU, the same kind as he has, because my old one was a P.O.S.

I can only assume it's a mobo problem, but I thought I'd try to get some other feedback before I replace it, because I really don't want to. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3, Intel Core Duo 2.13, EVGA GeForce 8800GTX, 2x1GB Corsair DDR2 RAM, Antec Trio 650W PSU, SoundBlaster XtremeGamer. Yes, I disabled onboard video. If I do get a new mobo, it definitely will not have onboard.

Isolate the problem by trying another working video card in your suspect motherboard and try the problem video card in another working mainboard.
