freeware DVD movies to AVI?

hello guys, is there any freeware software which can convert a DVD movie to AVI format without really reducing the resolution and quality of the picture, but converted to a small size like a CD size?

if you have any, could you tell me where to download the freeware software? thank you..

without reducing the resolution? i don't think you can find such a thing, the video and audio quality has to be reduced in order for the file size to fit on the CD, it needs compression

how else can you fit a 4.7gb dvd file on a 700mb CD...

you can try autogk, but i dont really like it, it kinda sucks. it is a very basic program for begginners, but that might be right up your ally.
