my voodoo 5 died, cant explain it, it just stoped working leaving me to choose from my list of spares and these i think are the best ive got but ill list everyhing

Radeon 7000 AGP 32mb
MX200 PCI 32mb
TNT2 Pro AGP 32mb
TNT2 M64 AGP 32mb
Riva 128 AGP 4mb
Rage Pro Tubo AGP 4mb
Matrox G450 AGP 32mb
S3 Savage 4 AGP 32mb

ok thats it for my cards, which one would be the best?

fore refrance this is for my back up system

my thoughts exactly, they all suck equally bad in this day and age, and wont play anything at anything at more than slideshow framerates unless you enjoy solitare.

since you're going to be stuck with viewing webpages it doesn't matter which one you chose.

this is a backup/leagcy comp, no interest in high end gaming on it, its more for older games like MOHAA that played just fine on my voodoo 5 5500 AGP or CnC Renegade, my friends and me play these old things still, also I play UT99 and Unreal Gold on this thing when my friends come over so they dont have to bring over there comps, my main rig is alot better overall, this is just for the old crap.

I did ran 3dmark2000 on them and got this back

TNT2 Pro = 1824
MX200 PCI = 2679
Radeon 7000 = 1357

Can the hardware T&L unit make that big an impact?

Do yourself a favour and splash out a few $ or £ and get a 9500 Pro or somethinb.

wont work on a 440BX board, AGP2X only, im thinking about buying a Ti-4200 64mb off a friend for $20 though. Any card i get has to be AGP4X or older.

A Ti4200 would be a MASSIVE step up from any of the other cards you've listed.

well for now becuase it scores higher ill use the MX200, I have to wait till he orders a new card, he still uses it but is looking at a used 9800pro for his aging XP1800 system

So, I sugested a 9500 which was rejected as you can only take a 2x AGP and then suddenly a 9800 Pro is ok?

If you want decent advice, please explain yourself fully.

Btw IIRC a Ti4200 is 4x AGP as well.

my friend is getting a 9800pro from ebay to replace the Ti-4200 im getting is what i was saying

y is it scoreing so low then, the only thing i can figure out is this 7000 isnt DDR like most where its 64bit SDR @166mhz 32mb, add the lack of T&L and i begin to understand whats going on.

well i changed drivers to the 30 seris and my scores went up on the TNT2 and MX200 oddly enough, but also my TNT2 Pro oced rather nicely i think and this is what im getting now

so unless im playing T&L intensive games the TNT2 walks all over it especailly with my OC of 170/200 up from 143/166

I would put in the Matrox G450 AGP 32mb.
Very good 2D and a stable VGA signal output. And as it is not for games, the 3D numbers are irrelevant - 2D and stable image is more important.
